                              A b o u t   M e                                             

I am a self taught technologist and a fast learner, looking for challenging
problems to solve. Currently I'm very passionate about Ruby on Rails and 
cloud computing. Most recently I did Rails dev and sys admin for VeriSign 
Labs - http://pip.verisignlabs.com

My clients have hired me to do project management, development, system
administration and internet marketing. The most fun I have had was managing
an internet marketplace that competed with eBay.

Willing to work as an employee or contractor if I can continue to work on 
and maintain ownership of my side projects. I dislike broad non-competes 
and NDAs.

* Darkstar BBS (personal project)                                 1994-1995
My first experience running a community and collecting revenue for an  
"online service". Operated on WorldGroup v1.0 with integrated web server.

* NFS.com / Team1 (employee)                                      1996-1999
Setup SCO Linux and Apache, IIS on Windows NT 4.0. design NFS.com. 
Accounting system development & implementation. Additional did developed on
a CRM package, shopping cart system and a vertical package for the 
petroleum industry. Web development was mostly in PHP.

* Freegigs.com & Bigseek.com (personal projects)                  1997-1998
Created free hosting provider (like Geocities) which grew to 300 signups 
per day. Developed meta-search engine with ranking based on external link 
counts. Applications were developed in Perl.

* QueCom (self-employed)                                          1999-2006
Managed small team of developers and designers. Provided outsourced web 
development services and hosting. 

* Bayoubid.com (contract project)                                 2002-2004
Started online auction community, grew from 0 to 30,000 users. 

* VeriSign  (contractor/employee)                                 2006-2008
Setup XEN environment for Rails and Java application hosting and setup 
environment so all applications would be monitored by the NOC and most 
admin tasks were automated. Ruby on Rails development for internal 
proof-of-concept applications. Worked on OpenID project to prepare for
open sourcing in Apache's incubation.
